The calm before the storm

Well we gave in. Sophia and I checked into the Wyndham Sugar Bay this afternoon in preparation for Tropical Storm Omar.  I was doing the safe thing.  Of course it was raining as I left the house and hasn’t been since. That’s OK, I guess.  Gave us some time to explore the resort and its pools.  Pretty nice.  A “Wow” according to Sophia, and I think she thought she saw mermaids….so that’s something.

Tomorrow and Thursday could be rough.  In the meantime I am enjoying a glass of wine and Internet access.  The storm is currently headed toward us and expected to gain strength, possibly an H1 hurricane tonight/early tomorrow.  It seems like it will mostly dump a LOT of water on us but I’ll withhold judgement.  After all yesterday it was only a tropical wave….

We’re safe. This resort has its own power and water.  So I know we’re good.  The lady gathering up pool furniture this afternoon told me that the is where the Red Cross stays if thats needed so I definitely feel safe.  Sophia loved her pizza and is dreaming sweet toddler dreams.  Me, I’m off to cheesy novel land.  A pretend vacation, at least for a night.

I’ll feel guilty for being here if this amounts to nothing, I’ll be really glad to be here if it hits us hard.  Like life hurricane tracking is a crap shoot.  This time I’m doubling down.  I have to protect the bear after and above all.
